Your result
How to use
- Paste or open the subtitle file.
- Set the maximum characters per line and lines per cue.
- Run the tool and download the rewrapped file.
Good to know
Existing line breaks inside a cue are removed first, then the text is rewrapped. Scripts without spaces, such as Japanese, break between characters.
Timing is never changed. A cue containing one very long word keeps that word intact and may exceed the limit.
Text files up to 5 MB are supported. Downloads are encoded as UTF-8.

Questions
What line length should I use?
42 characters is a common broadcast guideline for Latin scripts. For Japanese, around 13 to 16 full-width characters is typical.
Does it split long cues into new cues?
No. Timing never changes; text is rewrapped inside each cue, up to the line limit.
