Processed on your devicePaste text, open a file or try the sample to begin.
Your result
How to use
- Open the CSV; Shift JIS and UTF-16 are detected automatically.
- Keep the BOM for Excel and choose line endings.
- Download and open the file in Excel.
Good to know
Open your file with the right encoding first. Shift JIS and UTF-16 files are detected when UTF-8 cannot read them.
Cell contents are not changed. Only the encoding, the byte order mark and the line endings are rewritten.
Text files up to 5 MB are supported. Downloads are encoded as UTF-8.

Questions
Why does Excel garble my UTF-8 CSV?
Excel, especially on Windows, guesses a local encoding unless the file starts with a byte order mark. Adding the BOM fixes it.
Will Google Sheets or scripts mind the BOM?
Google Sheets and most libraries ignore it. Turn it off for tools that expect plain UTF-8.
