What Omi’s LVMH Award Reveals About Agile Merchandising
French startup Omi, which combines AI and 3D modeling to generate studio-quality visuals instantly, has just won the LVMH Innovation Award.
Without the need for pro models or photo studios, brands can now go from product to polished visual in minutes—an emerging game-changer for merchandising, OEM, and promotional content.
1. Today’s Highlight (News Summary)
- Source: [Vogue Business]
- Summary:
Omi’s platform uses AI + 3D rendering to create ultra-high-resolution visuals for luxury brands like Guerlain at a fraction of traditional costs. With a partnership underway with L’Oréal, the startup is quickly becoming a go-to for fast, brand-consistent content generation.
Key Highlights:
- No need for models or physical shoots → visuals are AI-generated from 3D models
- Major reduction in time and cost → EC and marketing materials are ready on demand
- AI ensures brand consistency across diverse visuals
→ This isn’t about “shoot → edit → deliver” anymore. It’s “generate → deploy”—in real time.
2. What Does This Mean for Different Players?
🎨 For Creators (Designers & Content Teams)
What used to take days—photoshoots, edits, approvals—can now happen in minutes. You can instantly explore variations, A/B test concepts, or roll out seasonal assets with zero production lag.
🏢 For Sellers (Sales, Marketing, Retail)
No more waiting on visuals. Whether you’re pitching a new item, launching a novelty product, or updating online listings, you can now move at the speed of reaction—not production.
👥 For Buyers (Customers & Fans)
High-quality, consistent visuals across EC and social media boost brand trust. When those visuals include style variants or product bundles, customers also gain more options and satisfaction.
3. How Could You Apply This?
- Use ChatGPT to generate rough drafts of promotional copy and background concepts
- Generate product images using Midjourney, DALL·E, or Firefly
- Mass-produce 3D visuals using Omi API (or a similar tool)
- Run a PoC via A/B testing, then automate the flow with GitHub Actions
→ Feels like launching fully-produced visuals—without ever stepping into a studio.
4. Editor’s Note
At Sasakiya Shoten, most of our mockup images are currently generated using DALL·E.
We’re also considering a reverse approach—generating style images first for our EC store, then designing products to match those visuals. We’re currently running a PoC using DALL·E and Pinterest.
Another idea is to extract just the cart functionality via the Shopify API and turn it into a styling service instead.
